With my usual scepticism I decided to give it a go and the result was this ; just about perfect as some of you will know.
The link is below if anyone else is tempted.
You're Siddhartha!
by Hermann Hesse
You simply don't know what to believe, but you're willing to try anything once. Western values, Eastern values, hedonism and minimalism, you've spent some time in every camp. But you still don't have any idea what camp you belong in. This makes you an individualist of the highest order, but also really lonely.
It's time to chill out under a tree. And realize that at least you believe in ferries.
Synopsis of Siddartha :But this man, Siddhartha, was not a follower of any but his own soul. Born the son of a Brahmin, Siddhartha was blessed in appearance, intelligence, and charisma. In order to find meaning in life, he discarded his promising future for the life of a wandering ascetic. Still, true happiness evaded him. Then a life of pleasure and titillation merely eroded away his spiritual gains until he was just like all the other "child people," dragged around by his desires.
(Ah yes .... I think I can definitely see myself in this description).

I believe in faeries too! :-)

Must try this quiz.
Weird.....parts are right. I will let you guess which parts.
You're David Copperfield!
by Charles Dickens
Coming up from a childhood that felt abusive, you have risen through hard work to gain a place of stature in your life. You've spent altogether too much time in factories and end up misspelling a fair number of words. But in general you are seen as a beacon of hope for others who might not be as fortunate. Lots of people keep mistaking you for a magician and are waiting for you to disappear.
Mailyn,
I'm sure you do believe in faeries hence your blog title. I was on my way through your blog when I discovered Dance Chic's quiz.
Steamy,
I know the hard work bit is true.
Your spelling seems ok and there's something of a "beacon of hope" about you.
I don't know about the"magician" bit !

You have to believe in ferries... cuz you believe in my, doncha? :)
crashdummie,
I believe in ferries and faeries.
Cardiff has plenty of both of them.
Generally speaking I prefer the ferrries to the faeries.

Siddhartha is a fine novel. I procured it a couple years ago from a retiring professor who had set a large part of their office library out on a table with a sign labeling them all as free. Always a nice way to get new books this way, and even better to find such a rare gem lying on a table for anyone to take.
I first read Siddhartha in College too - many years ago.
It made quite an impression on me at the time : curious that it should crop up again.
(Maybe this is some kind of cosmic hint that I should read it again - life's like that sometimes).

I LOVE Herman Hesse! I remember falling desperately in love with Narcissus and Goldmund (sp?) in High School and devoured Sid. I need to read them over again.
Eva,
Nice to see you ; I guess you've been up to your neck in house moving problems.
Sounds like you know more about Hesse than I do (which isn't difficult).
**smooches**

I don't think I like mine.
You're Mother Night!
by Kurt Vonnegut
Nobody knows what to believe about you, and you know least of all. You spent most of your time convinced that the ends justify the means, but your means were, well, downright mean! And the end is nigh. Meanwhile all you want is to travel back in time, if not to change, then to just delight in the way it used to be. You are who you pretend to be. Oh yes, you're the great pretender.
Tate,
I don't know you well enough to comment.
"The end is nigh" sounds a bit dire though !
And do you want to travel back in time ? I often have a feeling that I'd have been happier about 200 years ago.

Merlin, I wouldn't mind living as an adult in the 50's. I would stalk Dean Martin.
Don't we all have dreams of going back in time like Peggy Sue?
