So on Friday night I ventured out to "The New Dock Tavern" to see my old friend Phil's new Country and Western Band " Cheatin' Hearts".
As you may have gathered I'm not normally a Country and Western type but these guys can really play and I have something of a "hidden agenda" (There are no prizes for guessing what it might be ; most of you know me too well by now).
Sadly it's unlikely that they'll ever tour outside of South Wales but if you ever get the chance to see them do so : they're talented, they're funny and they're genuinely nice people.
And they do one of my favourite Ryan Adams songs too :

It seems that the've heard of Warren Zevon as well so my long-term aim is to persuade them into doing a version of " Carmelita" or "Hasten Down The Wind". Possibly I should suggest that they need a pianist ? Hmmm......maybe not ; why spoil a good thing ?

I don't like Country per say. Just a [very] few songs. Mostly very old. LOL.
If they'll play Desparadoes Under the Eaves, I will fly out there just to here them. And I'll kick your butt at pool. (Probably not, but it'd be fun to try.)
Did you know that Warren Zevon was a very, very good sniper at one point?

I don't usually like country either but it's different when you see a band like this in a small pub and they're standing about 3 feet away from you.

I'm bummed that Zevon is gone now. I'll never get to see/hear him play Desparados in concert.
