And you don't talk to the water boy
There's so much you can learn but you won't understand
You have no fear of the underdog
That's why you will not survive.

On a completely different note I have to admit to becoming fascinated with this Cluster Map thingy that now adorns the side of my blog.
I can account for most of the dots on there but who do I know in :
i) The North Of Germany and
ii) The South-East Of France
Hands up please : no need to be shy !

I like the verse. It is true. I know personally that I would not have much to write about if I didn't listen to as much of every person's story as I can. Even then, I struggle. But struggle is what underdogs do.
Underdogs are highly driven people, as you note.
Here's a dot from the great lakes region. And thanks for the advice about the Oresund bridge. A bridge was better than a tunnel in that instance. Nietzsche would never have thought of saying "man is a tunnel to over man...". But my thanks, none the less.
Eric,
Greetings.
I have a friend from Detroit but he's been touring Europe for the last year or so. I usually meet up with him in Amsterdam most recently in February.
Should see him again around August so I'll ask exactly where in Detroit he's from.
The other "Great Lakes" dot is Chicago.
The Oresund Bridge joins Copenhagen to Malmo and carries road traffic as well as rail. I can recommend Copenhagen : I wasn't too keen on Malmo (waits for hate mail from crashdummie).
I have no idea what Nietzsche would have made of any of this.
I always confuse him with Jack Nitzsche who used to play in Neil Young's backing band Crazy Horse.
No relation I guess.

hmmmm, you know what, if you sponsor me I'll do a around-the-world trip logging onto your blog from internet cafes, adding the dots in the cluster maps...
whacha say? :)
and Pst, I dont fancy Malmö, but I looooove my current hometown, Göteborg (Gothenburg).
As long as you praise it, I'm happy ;)
There are several Detriot bloggers, all of them aquaintances from college. I have a lot of them on my sidebar. Is your friend touring in a band?
I'm from St. Clair Shores, about two miles north of Eightmile, the northern border. I attend Wayne State University in downtown Detroit, and am looking to get a loft there to finish my bachelors and masters in English.
Thanks for the welcome, Merlin. It's always great to meet a fellow blogger. And a writer of verse in all it's forms, as well. I'm all over the map when it comes to inspiration and ideas. That poem was just a random act of kindness that turned out very nice. Thanks for the kind word.
crashdummie,
No.
Eric313,
Watch out for the Swedes ; they're manipulative (see above). They're very sweet though.
No - my friend divorced from his wife 18 months ago, took his share of the money and decided he wanted to see Europe.
He's in Valencia at present but heading North.

crashdummie,
Hmmm.....there are 2 red dots in Sweden.
Now if you're the one on the left (which is about right for Goteborg ) then who's the one on the right (which must be around Stockholm) ?
Ah.......I think it all begins to make sense.
I still don't know who the North German is though.
M.
The Chicago dot is me.
Steamy,
Yep.....that's what I thought.
I can work out which ones are Ferfe, Shmoop, Eva and Tate as well. Not sure about Selah and Ann.
M.
Hey, I’m not manipulative, I’m just adorable *puppy eyes*
You sure you don’t wanna reconsider the vagabond idea?
Yupp, the one to the right looks like it could be Stockholm.
What you find with site stats is that your readers are a wider base than your commentors. For example, I have a steady flow of silent Germans (about 4%) none of whom ever comment.
Mybloglog is also worth getting, to see who some of your silent readers are.
......and who do I know in Stockholm?
Incidentally I was reading in my "Guide To Goteborg" last night that 95% of the inhabitants are gay.
Is this true ?
M.
crushedbyingsoc,
Yep......you're right of course.
I have a netcounter running on my other blog and it picks up all kinds of people from China and Korea who never say a word.
I'll have a look at myblogblog : thanks for the advice.
I like to watch the people who are watching me (if you know what I mean).
What's particularly interesting (to me) is that I know who one of the dots in France is so I'm wondering why they never comment.
(Answer : because they're watching my blog to see who else I'm "playing with" and they think that I can't see them. Well.....that's just blown it totally hasn't it!)
If you're reading this in France -and you will be sooner or later - I have your IP address too.
M.
That is me in Florida!
Ferfe,
Yep....I've got you figured out.
Most of the ones in the States I can pick out like Tate in Seattle and Shmoop in Maine.
It's that one in the South Of France that I have the srangest gut feeling about.
M.
....or possibly "strangest" even.
